Canvey Lake is a former creek cut off by a seawall. It was renovated in 2013 and is now a Local Nature Reserve. Rampant reed growth has been cut back and a shingle bank created. As well as familiar lake wildlife such as mallard ducks and moorhens it has a populaton of water voles. Angling is permitted on part of the lake only.
Visiting
Access via Denham Road, Canvey island. Follow the A130 into the town and turn left on to Denham Road. From there paths run along northern bank, via Snakes Bridge, and the southern bank.
Accessible at all times.
